1/17/2008 Our New Year ….I am sorry it is taking me so long to update this. This is how 2007 ended & 2008 began for us. Well, we went and got some fireworks ... that was pretty smooth. We then headed to the Safe Zone provided by Alamo Fireworks out in China Grove. On the way there we saw a fire & anyone that knows Steven knows that he has to stop to make sure no one is harms way & help. Well, good thing he did. The area of the fire is his Chief's apartment complex so that was a very good thing to stop for. Will & Steven helped in getting the fire dealt with along with SAFD while Jason sat with Savanna & I away from the fire ... of course to help keep me from freaking out! Got that all dealt with & then headed out to China Grove. Exited for China Grove ... grabbed dinner and then headed out for the fireworks. We had only been shooting fireworks for about 10 to 15 minutes and realized that about 100 yards from us was a brush fire that started due to some teenagers shooting fireworks to close to the edge of the Safe Zone. Need less to say ... with the wind and the dead grass that was all around it moved pretty quickly. Steven & Will went over to the fire since apparently screaming FIRE at the people running the safe area wasn't going to be doing anything. Will went to warn the people in the house that a fire had started and Steven began calling 911 to get help out. Well, Jason went to go check on things after he went to the front to let them know about the fire, which got the response of "We have called for help" and Savanna and I stood watching the three men we were spending time with begin to get surrounded by flames. Steven then called me on the phone to tell me to go to the front and tell them to stop the fireworks (which would have been common sense you would think ... but nope!) and I did. All I got was "We can't stop them" from the man wearing a badge stating he was in a place of authority. How crappy was that. I also let the men selling fireworks know about the fire and that maybe the firewoks no longer needed to be going off and got "We can't stop them". I kid you not I was so frustated. With Savanna in hand I called Jason for him to pick up the fireworks that I had left in the safe zone and then we proceeded to take the drive to the house where the fire was surrounding to which we all began (except Savanna ... she sat with the ladies that lived in the house) taking shovels and trying to keep the fire from the house. All in all there were about 10 people who are not firemen going after this fire and of course ... we had some firemen that were trying to help but no fire trucks. Yes, even I began to help but found that the flames were more than I could handle so I did what I could to make sure that the men had all that they needed and of course called my mom to ask her to begin prayer for the people fighting the fire and that God would keep his hands around the house to keep it from burning. She prayed with me on the phone and then .. I had to let her go. As much as she is my reassurance for things I had to get back to doing what I could physically to help. I can not begin to tell you what fear, worry and utter pride began to flow through me as I watched my husband, brother in law & one of our best friends putting themselves on the line with total strangers for total strangers. I could not have been any prouder of those three men. I know I couldn't do a lot physically but I do hope that in some form or fashion I helped somewhere. The fire took about 500 acres of land and we did get some help and relief but I will be honest in saying that with out the quick thinking of my three guys and the help from total strangers ... that house would not still be standing & there could be many people harmed or worse dead today. We didn't get home until about 2:30am on January 1, 2008 but you know ... it was a great way to spend my new year to watch these people all work together. To watch my daughter not freak out like most children her age & to make a new friend. Yes, I made a friend that night ... sitting in the truck with a firefighters wife doing what we could to take water where it was needed, take people to where they were needed & to have a warm place for my daughter & I to sit while we do what we could. Nope, I didn't get the glamorous New Years Eve or New Years kiss but I can tell you that my hubby kissed me at 11:56pm on 12.31.07 and again at 12:30am 01.01.08 ad I know that no where in between he kissed anyone else but the flames of a fire ... I am good with that. Yet, I did get a new years eve of being the proudest wife, sister in law & friend to three great guys who put everything that they wanted and even lives on the line for people they didn't know, don't know and will probably never know. 2007 ended and 2008 came in the exact same way, but with a feeling of accomplishment when the flames were all out & everyone was able to go home safely. 2008 brings me Savann's 2nd birthday, our one year anniversary of being married, Tyler's 12th birthday, my 30th birthday, Timothy's 11th birthday, Steven's 24th birthday and so many wonderful events that I am sure God has instore of me and my family. I do hope that everyone had a safe & happy new years eve and that 2008 brings you all that you are looking for. God's Blessings & Best Wishes, Faith Ann 12/6/2007 New PicturesWell, we have made it through the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a wonderful time with my family in Round Rock. We also had a new friend .. Cathy ... spend it with us. It was wonderful. That same weekend we put up our Christmas tree & decorated the game room for Christmas. Now we are slowly working on the rest of the house. Once the rest of the house is decorated I will take more pictures to add to the album.
Please enjoy the pictures. They are pretty random of us that evening & some are taken by Tyler. He is getting good with the camera.

I was not able to attend due to work but Steven was able to be there for him & get pictures and a video! We are all so very proud of Tyler!
Tyler built his first bottle rocket for the year & brought it home to paint. After that he ended up with the flu & missed two days of school but was able to make it to his very first Aerospace Day! He launched his very first bottle rocket & it did GREAT!!!
Tyler’s rocket hit the altitude of 407.58 feet! At the school the highest they can launch is 500 feet so that is pretty close to the max! We believe that he is going to do wonderful things when he is able to launch it 1000 feet at the end of the year! We can’t wait!
As Tyler gets more rockets built & Aerospace Days done we will post pictures in the Aerospace 6th Grade folder.
Please take a moment to go to Tyler’s web page to leave comments in his Guestbook about his rockets. He is so proud of them & we could not be prouder of him!
Hugs Faith Ann
5/25/2007 Update for May 2007Our family has gone through some changes this past month. It has been fun & exciting all rolled into one.
May 4th – Steven & I got married. We are all very happy & enjoying our first month as a legal family. It has been a transition & we are still working out all the little kinks that families have.
May 14th – Timothy had his last Celebrate Success for 3rd grade. He did an awesome job & again made Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance. We are all so very proud of this growing boy of ours.
May 16th – Tyler & I did a Middle School preview for two magnet programs for him to possibly attend next year. He is excited & we hope to have information on his acceptance into iMAK or KSAT by the end of June.
May 22nd – Tyler graduated from 5th grade & is now on his way to Middle School. He got his awards for Honor Roll, Safety Patrol & the Presidents Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. We are so proud of him for his accomplishments in Elementary School.
May 23rd – Savanna is now 14 months old & walking all the time. She enjoys her days with Gwennie & even enjoys her time in the play pen. She has begun hiding things so we are always on the hunt for something. She has moved from a bottle to a sippy cup, she is taking whole milk now & is eating great! Still no teeth but hey … that doesn’t stop her any. We still don’t let her drink juices but that is ok … she gets her vitamins & is very healthy.
May 24th – The final decision from NEISD for the boundary change came in & Timothy will be moving schools next year for his last two years of Elementary School. It is hard for him but he is excited about the new adventures.
May 25th – Both Steven & I were able to take some time off work to go watch the Royal Ridge Annual Talent Show. We were so proud to watch Tyler participate with the Patriot Choir. He did a wonderful job. Next year, if Timothy’s new school has a talent show he plans to audition. We can’t wait to see what he does.
All in all – the month of May has been busy. We have a couple of more days left but we plan for them to be pretty uneventful in our lives as we try to wind down from the school year & get ready for the summer. We may try to go tubing this Memorial Day weekend if the weather permits but all of that is in God’s hands. We let Him make those decisions & we do our best to understand them.
Please keep our family in prayer as we have some tough decisions to make this summer. We are looking at what is best for our family & are looking for God’s input on what He wishes for us to do.
We wish everyone a safe & happy Memorial Day weekend.
God Bless, Texas Rebel Family Steven, Faith Ann Tyler, Timothy & Savanna 4/20/2007 San Antonio Rampage GameHockey
Our family attended its first hockey game! We had a wonderful time watching the San Antonio Rampage play!
I hope that everyone will take some time out to look at the pictures from the hockey game. Yes, some are boring pictures of the players playing, but hey … we had a great time watching so we wanted to share.
We only had one fight in the game & that happened in the first period. It did not last long & it did not look like anyone was hurt too badly. Though, it did seem to get the guys’ attention that there was something going on down there.
The second period Gwen & Faith Ann spent the entire time going to the restroom & getting drinks for the kids. Apparently lines were very long at that time. No big deal … there are screens all around the AT&T Center that they were able to watch the game & all the fun stuff that was on the ice.
The third period we all watched the last of the game & how it seemed our team would come back to win but apparently they just were not all heart that evening. They did a great job but the score showed that Houston won the game.
Even with the Rampage loosing we had a wonderful time & it was a great time for our family to spend together!
Check out the pics!
Texas Rebel Family Steven, Faith Ann Tyler, Timothy & Savanna Our Family Easter 2007
Easter in our house is a very special & precious time. We celebrate our Lord Jesus! We also celebrate the love of our family & friends.
This year the weather was very cool & so that made us have to do the egg hunt inside. Luckily, the Lane house is big enough! We had a wonderful time attending church at our home church of Live Oak First Baptist Church. Then headed to Nana & Papa’s for a wonderful lunch, time with family & of course an egg hunt for the kids. This year we also did something somewhat fun & celebrated everyone’s Un-Birthday! It was great to get little trinkets. Everyone got something & Savanna made a big mess with her chocolate cake. All in all we had a wonderful time & this year was wonderful to watch all three of my children enjoy the egg hunt.
Happy Easter, Texas Rebel Family Steven, Faith Ann Tyler, Timothy & Savanna 3/29/2007 Savanna is One Year OldSavanna is now 1 year old, as of March 23, 2007!! It is great to see her getting so big. She now weighs 20lbs 15oz & is 29 ½ inches tall. She is a small little girl, but don’t let that fool you … she is a pistol!
We got to celebrate her birthday with family & friends on March 24th. She had a wonderful time eating her own little chocolate cake that was made by Nana. Watching her reminded me so much of Tyler & Timothy’s first birthdays. Tyler did not want to get messy & began to slowly eat his cake, where Timothy was all about making a mess. Our little Angel Princess seems to take qualities from both her brothers in her attack on the cake.
Savanna is still cruising but she shows signs of wanting to walk. Luckily she got walking wings for her birthday so soon she will be up & running … literally! She still has no teeth but that does not stop her from trying all sorts of things. Her words are getting better & the VSmile she got for her birthday is helping a lot! We can’t wait to see what other cool things she learns.
She is already working on her sports … she got a cute baseball bat & ball game for her birthday that she has enjoyed so much. With her standing so well now she really finds things that she can do standing up to be lots of fun!
It is hard to believe that she is now 1 but … she is a joy in our lives. Please take a moment to look at the pictures from her party. She has gotten so big from when she first stepped into our lives.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAVANNA!!! |
